Historical source: the following text presents the nationalist viewpoint expressed in the Albanian text, signed “Katundari”. Its first-person statements and political appeals belong to that source.
On the eve of the gathering around the Nationalist Organization “Balli Kombëtar”, we did not fail, in the first days of the revolution, to act as heralds, to show the ideal path that hastened and saved our people, immersed for almost 500 years under the Ottoman yoke. The ideal path that led us to the victory of 1920, the path of nationalism, is the one that must guide us today.
On the fateful day of April 7, 1939, Albanian nationalism made the world understand, hour by hour, that Mussolini’s fascist invasion came to our country as an aggressor and not as a sought-after friend. Albanian nationalism, the sentiment of an entire people, could not be offended by the betrayal of a few individuals who served the invaders for personal gain.
Since 1930, we have demonstrated and sacrificed for a national revolution, for the freedom of the Homeland. The National Front was created for this purpose: to keep alive the ideal of ethnic Albania and to fight any enemy that threatens our borders and identity.
However, we regretfully note that some individuals influenced by communist ideology, instead of joining our ideals, preferred to follow a second path, the path of division and class violence.
Today, this path brings neither unity nor freedom. It brings only loss, division, revenge and tragedy. Albania does not need a new fratricide, but national unity.
Oh Albanians!
Do not lose your way to freedom. Do not be deceived by foreign dogmas that do not know our history and reality. We do not want an Albania divided into hostile camps, but a united and free Albania.
